Estate planning is mostly about the big picture issues of who fulfills the important fiduciary role of executor, who will be the guardian of minor children, and how your assets get distributed, among others. But there are also more routine issues that need to be addressed after one’s death, such as gathering information for the death certificate, cancelling newspapers and magazine subscriptions, securing the residence if the person lived alone, and notifying former employers and government agencies of the passing.
