A recent NEET Notes article on decluttering your home has come up often in meetings over the past several months. There appears to be consensus that decluttering and getting more organized is a good idea, but not so easy to achieve. It takes focus, effort and time. More time than many people want to commit to.


Consequently, there is a risk of postponing too long to get started. The article emphasized doing the work yourself, in line with the advice of the author who wrote Swedish Death Cleaning, Margareta Magnusson. She advised starting in your mid-60s, or earlier, and acknowledging it could be a long slog. But not everyone has the stamina or time to devote to this chore, and sometimes life events intervene, interrupting your efforts or causing a change in plans, such as a move, that you thought would be years off.
